Bio of author/artist Lehua Kane:

 

Lehua has worked for the past twenty plus years in a variety of fields such as: fine arts, printing, publishing, advertising, film, and design. As a child prodigy, Lehua had won a number of art competitions while in grade school and had illustrated her first magazine cover by the age of fifteen. Lehua has been featured on television and in a number of newspapers, magazines, and other publications.

Lehua's paintings have been shown in galleries on the continental United States as well as in Hawaii. Being also an artist of military focus, some of Kane's military paintings are on permanent display at the Command Museum at M.C.R.D in San Diego, California when they are not on tour. Her art clients include businesses and corporations, some of which have been the publishing branch of the ABC Television Network, Keauhou Beach Hotel, Kona Lagoon Resort, West Hawaii Youth Council, Crisis Center of Hawaii, Water Catchment Association of Hawaii, West Hawaii Today Paper, Keauhou Kona Triathlon, Aura Modeling Agency, Model Makers Modeling Agency, Town and Country Surfboards, Channon Surfboards, Fairwind Cruises, Boy Scouts of America Sea Explorers, PropART DuPont Display Co., and Doyle Signs Inc.

Clients also include private collectors, a few of whom are: Senator Daniel Inouye, actor Armond Assante, and General Charles Chandler Krulak, Commandant United States Marine Corps.

As a writer Lehua has had a number of articles and poems published through the West Hawaii Youth Center, The March Of Dimes, The West Hawaii Today newspaper, and other publications. She also wrote and illustrated a cartoon strip called, Little Kolohe (Little Rascal), for the West Hawaii Today Paper. A short animal story of Lehua's is to be published by the Animal Angle Network in their upcoming book, God ( According To Animals), and Lehua has a couple novels now completed: Sweet Or Sour Cream It's All A Matter Of Choice, and Divine Inspiration. Lehua also has a few children's books completed: A Friend Where You Least Expect One, Natty And The Squirrel And The Apple Seed, and Hello Friend.

Lehua comes from a family of published authors and artist. Her father, Herbert K. Kane, published writer and artist, is the foremost artist historian of Hawaii and the South Pacific. Kane, has also had numerous books published, many of them with Golden Press and Rand McNally. Sharon's children's books are now collectors items. Lehua's grandmother, Eunice Young Smith, is also a successful artist and writer.

Lehuaokalani Kane is also an accomplished model and dancer of Polynesian and other forms of dance.
